Central to achieving this principle is the belief and understanding within the business that health and safety is everybody’s responsibility, from the CEO to the men and women on the ground delivering the services and products.
We believe in empowering the individual and the work teams in taking ownership and responsibility for their own safety and that of other people who may be affected by their works. They are provided with training, coaching and advice on an on-going basis to enable them to make the right decision when it comes to controlling risk.
A key element of our health & safety culture is our behavioural safety program – HEART. The HEART behavioural safety programme involves workplace observations of all personnel identifying positive and negative behaviours with information being inputted into the HEART database for analysis. Trends of behaviours can then be determined and learning cascaded to all personnel within the company, with the outcome of learning from previous experience and therefore preventing similar behaviours.
HEART encourages everyone to make a deeper personal commitment to think and act safely, so our people return home safely each day and that those visiting or living near our places of work are not put at risk, by our acts or omissions.
From waste management to asbestos removal to operating in areas that are critical ecological sites, Actavo is committed to minimising our impact on the environment. This includes managing and reducing our carbon footprint through forward planning, adopting new technologies and work practices across all our business units.
Our energy management commitments fall within our environmental objectives with a specific focus on fleet management, which is our primary energy usage. With the use of technology, we actively manage the fleet usage and utilisation in order to minimise waste and fuel consumption. This coupled with our training programmes ensures that our fleet achieves maximum efficiency.
The quality of the services and products that we supply is a key success factor in our continued growth and success. Listening to and identifying our customer’s requirements forms the basis for our quality management processes within the business. Each customer has their own unique requirements and we strive to ensure that not only do we meet those expectations but exceed them where possible.

Actavo has a full time in-house Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) team who provide advice and support to the business units to assist them in the implementation of the relevant SHEQ Management Systems and procedures. With a broad background of experience, qualifications and desire to be part of a successful business, the SHEQ Team work collaboratively with operations and other support functions to develop and deliver project specific solutions that will deliver on our core objectives.
